Starting with version 10 of the OLI Studio software the format of the databases changed from the old ESP format (the 39 file format) to a single SQL file which either represented as an SQ3 or DDB file. To use a user database in the new version a conversion is required. This is similar to the steps needed in OLI Flowsheet or OLI ESP FS.

Too add an old database to the OLI Studio V10 please follow the steps below:
- 1. Locate the directory where you have saved your database. You should see 39 files in this directory.
- 2. Copy the path of this directory
- 3. Open the OLI Database Converter V10.0
- You can search for it in the search bar
- Or go directly to the path: Path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\OLI Studio\OLI Database Converter 10.0.lnk
- 4. A new window opens. Click on the … button to add the source database
- 5. This will open a new window. Paste the path of your database in the blank space next to File Name. Then click Open.
- 6. Select the *.DIC file, and then click Open.
- 7. The OLI Database Converted now has the Source Database and the Database name. Now we need to define the directory path for Destination folder.
Finding the Destination Folder
- a. Open OLI Studio V10
- b. Go to Tools>Options
- c. This opens a new window. Under the category window, go to File Locations, and select the Configuration Tab. Copy the directory path under Private Database Location. Then Click OK or close the window.
- 8. Go back to the OLI Database Converter, and paste private database location directory path in the Destination Folder cell. Then click Convert.
- 9. Once the conversion takes place, click on the Exit button.
- 10. Open OLI Studio V10. Note: If you had the software already open, please close it and launch it again for the changes to take effect.
- 11. Add a new stream, and then go to Chemistry>Model Options
- 12. This will open a new window. Under the Databanks tab.
- a. Select the Thermodynamic Framework that was used to create the Database. (In this example the dataset was created using MSE)
- b. Select the private database – it should appear under the Available window.
- c. Use the blue right arrow to move the database to the Selected window.
- d. Click OK to accept the changes.
- 13. Go to the Definition tab. In the Summary box you will see the name of the database. You have successfully added the database!
