There are two main reasons for this error;

  • Aspen PLUS/HYSYS is not installed
  • The Aspen PLUS/HYSYS installation did not use the default settings for some properties.

The first error is easy to figure out, just install the correct version of Aspen. The second error is harder to determine. OLI Systems has created a diagnostic tool which will allow you to see how Aspen PLUS/HYSYS was installed.

You can download the tool here: AspenInstallCheck.zip

Once downloaded you need to extract the EXE file and put it anywhere on your computer.

Now follow these instructions

1. Double click the AspenInstallCheck icon

2. This will display the Aspen Install Check program. We can check for proper installation for all versions from 2006.5 onward.

3. Although you can check for individual versions we recommend that you select Check All. If a previous version (e.g., V7.3) was installed correctly and a later version is not installed correctly it is easier to see differences if we check all versions.

Click the Check button.

4. Errors may be detected

We ran this tool on a development computer here at OLI. Not all versions of Aspen PLUS are installed. As you can see in the above image that we have a problem with version 2006.5 and version 7.3.2.

5. Copy the information and send to OLI.

All of the information in the above screen can be copied to the clip board via the Copy button. Some information may have scrolled below the window but the Copy function gets all the data. You can paste this into a text editor or paste directly into an Email. Please send this data to OLI Systems. Our support Email is on our main web page at www.olisystems.com (note, we try no to use our Email in the wiki to cut down on the tons of spam we receive)

Here is a sample of the data contained in the Copy function.
